Chapter 15 – Digital Site Survey Video Tutorial
Use a digital site survey to gather a wealth of information about a site without ever actually visiting the site. The graphics derived from the digital site survey can be used to fill in details until the real site survey arrives. Ultimately, a digital site survey gives you the information needed to make intelligent design decisions from the very start of a project.
Chapter 16 – Matchphoto for Building Context Tutorial Video
Matchphoto can be tricky the first time through, but what about using multiple Matchphotos!? In this video tutorial I walk you through the critical steps for successfully setting up a second Matchphoto that aligns with the first… This is a continuation of the Matchphoto exercise in the book.
Chapter 20 – Construction Documents Tutorial Video
In these videos I demonstrate how to set up your scenes in SketchUp, then send to LayOut and properly stack the viewports to create dynamically linked drawings. It all comes together here!
On a side note… Have you ever made a mistake? I have… a couple times! and they are now published for everyone to see… Please see 130419_Updated SOD.pdf for revised scene organization diagrams… Sorry about that!
CASE STUDY :: ROW HOUSE
The Denver Row House project is a hypothetical new build in Denver’s RINO district. I used this project to test the limits of the system. There are several CONC layers that describe the ARCH layers, including units, levels, interior, exterior, etc. Although the design is not 100% complete, the model is well organized and linked to the LayOut drawings. Take note of how section planes were used to create the stairs in the 2D drawings.
CASE STUDY :: RESIDENTIAL REMODEL
This will help for now… but I would still like to rework this model using the final standards presented in TSWFA… I used a CONC – Building Envelope layer rather than the suggested CONC – Interior / CONC – Exterior system. Let me know what you think!
